April 3, 2025 – Skill Based Games Inc. (SBG), supplier of GotSkill? games, is kicking off its 10-year anniversary celebrations at the Restaurant Canada (RC) Show in Toronto, April 7th to 9th. At the company’s show booth (#3220 in the Bar & Beverage area) visitors can join in the anniversary party fun by playing the games, winning cash prizes and giveaways, and talking with GotSkill? experts who will be sharing invaluable insights and tips into their games.
The Vaughan, Ontario-based SBG has become an important mainstay of Ontario’s hospitality sector since it first appeared on the scene in 2015. Through the years the company has partnered with restaurants, bars, and hospitality establishments to provide a steady stream of supplemental income and entertaining and engaging games for patrons. GotSkill? games are found in nearly 200 establishments across Ontario: from Windsor, London, and the Niagara Region, throughout Toronto and the GTA, to Ottawa and Cornwall, and across the north, from North Bay to Thunder Bay to Pickle Lake.
“Passing the 10-year milestone has us reflecting on the many wonderful people we have worked with and the experiences GotSkill? has had along the way,” says Tony Carvalho, GotSkill? president and CEO. “We enjoy getting involved with our customers, their patrons, and in their communities. It is very satisfying to know we are helping our partnering establishments that play such a large part in local economies and local social scenes.”
“We think of all the people and businesses involved with our games as GotSkill family and this year’s celebration is a way of taking special note of the importance of our relationships and the hundreds of thousands who are enjoying our games,” says Carvalho.
The owner of one GotSkill? host establishment in Toronto, Pegasus on Church, echoed Carvalho’s sentiments about the positive business relationships that have been formed. Christopher Hudspeth commented on GotSkill?, “Their commitment to fostering community through engaging events like bingo, trivia nights, and inclusive social gatherings aligns with our dedication to supporting businesses that create meaningful connections. We are honoured to be part of their story and look forward to many more years of collaboration.”
GotSkill? was recently featured in trade publication Bar & Beverage Business Magazine for the impact the games are having supporting establishments in the hospitality industry. The article reads, “The games provide a fun entertainment value for patrons, who tend to stay longer and order more food and beverage — which is great for the establishment. It improves both the customers’ experience and a bar’s bottom line.”
A supportive business partner
Carvalho points out the company’s success through the decade is largely due to its core commitment to play a proactive role in supporting their customers’ businesses. The last ten years have seen some of the most challenging times for food and beverage and entertainment businesses. Carvalho states, “We understand our partnering establishments are caught in a perfect storm of rising operating costs, hikes in food costs, shortages of labour, managing debt with higher interest rates. So, we have tried to provide that extra assistance that will make a difference.”
The company offers their partnering establishments a customer benefits program, the GS BuyingGroup, which includes a variety of merchant services including seamless payment processing and POS terminals, as well as an exclusive hospitality insurance program that has commercial general liability, full liquor liability insurance, and offers risk management services from industry insiders. The GS BuyingGroup also provides a range of VIP perks tailored to enhance business operations and profitability – tools such as gift cards, reputation management software, and top-tier marketing programs.
Carvalho also reflects on the darkest years of the past decade, with the COVID pandemic and the lockdowns. In 2021, GotSkill? was very active, providing health and safety equipment to establishments as well as refreshments to first responders and healthcare staff. The company personally rebated in excess of $500,000 and spearheaded a private sector relief fund that provided non-repayable grant money to more than 40 hospitality establishments across Ontario to assist with operation costs, from retaining staff to maintenance bills.
GotSkill? is a good corporate citizen and its choice charity has been Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada. Carvalho relates that through the years GotSkill? has been a proud MADD corporate sponsor, donating more than one million dollars to the charity. The company has donated a minimum of $100,000 annually to MADD and this contribution is further supplemented by the generous donations from GotSkill? players who choose to donate part or all their winnings.
SBG and GotSkill? 10-year anniversary celebrations will include a number of special events through 2025 for the company’s partners and their patrons. Players of GotSkill? are encouraged to follow the company’s Instagram @gotskillgames and Facebook @Got Skill?to stay informed of the latest news.
