Newfie’s Pub helps Ontario-based gaming company celebrate milestone

September 17, 2018 - Canadian gaming company SBG - Skill Based Games Inc. (SBG) is back again in Thunder Bay, this time to celebrate the installation of its video skill games at its 200th establishment in Ontario. The Newfie’s Pub on Victoria Avenue just installed GotSkill?, which adds this bar to a growing list of bars and restaurants offering the GotSkill? game to their patrons.

GotSkill? are unique, skill-based video games that challenge players’ hand-eye coordination and timing in a variety of games. The games are more engaging than other games because players’ skills are tested. An attractive element to these video skill games is that players have the opportunity to win cash prizes.

“There are a number of restaurants and bars in this city that have installed GotSkill?, but I am especially happy to be in Newfie’s Pub to mark our company’s milestone,” says Tony Carvalho, president of GotSkill? “This is a fun place to be. It is always entertaining, and I hope that our GotSkill? video skill games will add to the entertainment.”

SBG is no stranger to Thunder Bay. There are a number of local establishments hosting GotSkill? games: Shoreline Motel, Shooter’s Tavern, Dragon’s Den Sportsbar, Fastlane Bar and Grill, Royalton Hotel, and Paulucci’s Wayland Bar & Grill – and now Newfie’s Pub.

Carvalho explains the attractiveness of these games for restaurant and bar owners. “A business will gain incremental revenue from the games, and there are no operational costs. Because GotSkill? are engaging video skill games, patrons tend to stay longer and will order more food and drink while they play. These games attract new patrons – it’s a draw.”

Carvalho also mentions SBG’s corporate involvement with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada. “We are proud to be supporting MADD Canada and helping to spread awareness of the dangers of impaired driving. Part of the proceeds of GotSkill? goes towards sponsoring victims’ services and we are happy to be giving back in this way.”
